This morning I attended a session on alternative ways of story telling. It begged the question, do we have to tell stories the way we always have?
The answer is no, we do not.
As Steve Johnson pointed out, every piece of technology we have right now will be extinct one day, so we should take advantage of it now.
There are so many ways to tell a story. Maybe it works for some stories to write full articles, but there are so many other ways to do so.
Johnson showed us a great video covering protests in Brazil, told about a story his student wrote from the point of view of abandoned pizza and showed us an interactive story explaining what a Higgs field is. All of these methods worked because the journalist considered the audience and the story and what works best.
