Today, The Pendulum took first place in the Social Media Main-Page Presentation category of the Online competition of College Media Association’s Best of Collegiate Design 21 awards. That’s a mouthful of an award. To make it simpler (is this simpler?), the BOCD awards are broken into five competitions: All Publications, Newspapers, Magazines, Yearbooks and Online. Within those competitions are several categories. So The Pendulum won for Online–>Social Media Main-Page Presentation for its Facebook page. The organization finished ahead of publications from Penn State (second place), Montana Journalism Review (third place) and the University of Indiana (honorable mention).
Judges said the Pendulum’s Facebook page contained good reader interaction and an occasionally irreverent tone, which they considered a positive attribute.
This honor was announced for the first time today at the Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Association National College Media Convention in New Orleans.
