Four student leaders of The Pendulum, Elon University’s daily newsgathering organization, will attend the College Media Association conference March 18-20, 2011, in New York, where they will attend educational workshops and network with media professionals.
Students in attendance will be:
- Kate Riley, special projects editor
- Rebecca Iannucci, A&E editor
- Kristen Case, design chief
- Elizabeth Nerich, social media editor
Pendulum adviser Colin Donohue will also be in attendance.
In addition to attending workshops and sessions led by professionals from the media world and faculty members from communications schools nationwide, students will also network, take tours of media organizations around the city and have The Pendulum professionally critiqued.
Students have already submitted entries to the Apple Awards competition, which recognizes the best newspapers, radio casts, newscasts, yearbooks and literary magazines from schools in attendance at the CMA convention. The Pendulum has been named one of three finalists in the Best Facebook Page category. Its final place will be announced Tuesday morning.
Check this blog regularly from March 18-20 for updates from the students on the trip. They will be posting quick summaries/reflections after every session they attend.
