The speaker for my first session of the day didn’t show up. I was really bummed, because the session was about collegiate newspaper design. But luckily someone took charge and got a conversation going among all of the students about issues and problems we all face at our own papers. We divided the room up into photographers, designers, writers, etc. It was great to talk to other students dealing with the same issues and to hear how they deal with them and how their papers are run and structured. I ended up really enjoying it. Lesson of the day: Journalists are problem-solvers too.
